It is not so common to have TV actors sing songs and we thought actors can just act but it seems different with the ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehalataa Hai’ star cast. For a special sequence in the show, the artists themselves sang a song. The artists include Lata Sabarwal, Neelima, Vinita Mallik, Hina Khan, Sunita and Roshan Khan. The songs are written by Rajita Sharma her self who is the story writer, screenplay writer, dialogue writer and the creative head of the show. The music is by Paresh.

We caught up with Rajita Sharma to get a brief about the sequence and she said, “We have this sequence wherein Akshara, the lead, has to choose a guy and that is when there is a song that comes about. It is a playful song and we could have used playback voices but there are different ages played by the characters; I wanted something natural out of the sequence so we had a discussion about having the actors sing the song by themselves. Initially everyone was a little hesitant and nervous but later got enthusiastic”.

She adds: “Surprisingly the song came out really well and the actors have done a fantastic job. The song has a sweet tune and is not a very difficult one. It is been shot and choreographed well. It is all raw and defines the togetherness of a family. I penned the lyrics myself because I am the story writer too and wanted the flow to be natural and go well with the story. It was all good fun and we plan to have more such aspects in the future as well”.

The song episode will be telecast on February 3 and February 4 on Star Plus’ ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehalataa Hai’ at 9.30pm.
