The set of SAB’s ‘Jugni Chali Jalandhar’ has become a ‘paatshaala’ of sorts. And it is because of Ranjit, the Bollywood veteran villain and lead actor on the show, who passes on tips to his co-stars on improving their acting skills. Apparently, he sits together with all of them during breaks and eases their nervousness by passing on suggestions and a cold glass of lassi. Actress Muskan who plays Jugni on the show, feels his tips have definitely helped her to deliver a better performance with minimal retakes.
We caught up with the man himself to get his views. “It is not about giving tips but the feel of being one family,” said Ranjit. “It is about the sincerity that we share and I believe in having a comfort level with your co-stars, especially when they are juniors. It becomes easier that way. We need to play our roles correctly and the timing is what’s important. Improving oneself is a continuous process and there has to be harmony. I treat my co-stars like my kids and I help them by rehearsing with them; I become one of them. And it gets all the more interesting when you are able to see the humour in everything.”
Muskan had this to say about her mentor. “Ranjit is our senior and I am very happy to work with
him,” she said. “He appreciates your work and is always positive in his approach. He gives constant feedback, points out our mistakes in a positive way and makes sure we get it right. He is very encouraging, lively and energetic. It has been a true learning experience for me and it has helped me a lot. I have worked with a lot of senior artistes but nobody has guided me as much as Ranjitji; I am looking forward to getting more help from him and continuing to improve in the future.”
So it seems like Ranjit is going above and beyond the call of duty for his fellow actors and he deserves credit for his efforts.
