We have heard a lot about TV couples who get into serious relationships and the latest news concerns a couple in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which coincidentally is a story of finding love after an arranged marriage and how two people bond after entering into matrimony.

So how did the love happen?

Rajan Shahi, the producer of the show, considered a lot of actors to play the parents of lead actress Hina Khan, who plays Akshara. He zeroed in on Sanjeev Seth to play Vishamber Nath and Lataa Saberwal for his wife Rajshri Nath.

Sanjeev and Lataa met for the first time on the sets of the show and while playing onscreen husband and wife began to develop feelings for each other. They kept their relationship under wraps as Sanjeev is a divorcee (ex-wife is actress Resham Seth) and has kids too. Lataa has also had a broken engagement in the past.

Having fallen in love about a month ago, Sanjeev and Lataa are so serious about their relationship that they are planning to tie the knot on Friday (Jan. 23). We caught up with the couple to dig up some more details.

“It is true that we are getting married,” said Sanjeev. “We met on the sets and were good friends – we really don’t know how we fell in love. We just started seeing each other a month ago and decided to get married. It is happening tomorrow – I was the one who made the move and she was quite surprised. She took 45 minutes to make her decision. And that is how it all happened! I am really happy about the way things are happening. I like everything about her and her mature behaviour most of all.”

Sanjeev went on to describe the wedding. “It will be a simple wedding at Iscon,” he said. “It is sudden but we didn’t want to prolong it. However, I am feeling nervous, anxious and happy too. My definition of marriage is that it is beautiful and exciting and there is always a right person made for you. And my eyes are open to that.”

For her part, Lataa said: “It all happened suddenly and it is not like we bumped into each other. He is a lovely person and I like him for that. I didn’t take much time to accept him as my life partner when he proposed to me. Although we never thought so much would happen, the thoughts were sinking into us and we have been made for each other. We didn’t want to waste time, so we decided to tie the knot.”

About Sanjeev having a failed marriage in his past, Lataa said: “I have no issues about his past and believe that what is lacking today is genuine love. So I am there to give that and have also accepted his lovely kids wholeheartedly and thank God that they also like me. I am quite excited about the wedding and I have been getting special gifts and wishes from my friends. It is going to be simple and we shopped only for the necessities. And for the honeymoon, we will be going to Goa for three days and may be getting back to work after that…anyways, we will shoot together (laughs).”

She added: “I have mixed feelings. Anyways, I feel all this is destined to happen and it is as per God’s wish. And my definition of marriage is that it is not a hunky-dory thing – I believe that togetherness is what is important in a marriage. I am looking forward to a good time and good changes in our lives. And most of all, I want to thank Rajan Shahi for casting us as the couple for his show.”

Rajan Shahi was the only person with whom the pair had opened up about their relationship. “I am really happy for the couple who are getting married tomorrow,” said Rajan. “I am happier because it happened on the sets of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which coincidentally is about love, relationships and marriage.”

He added: “I have known Sanjeev for a long time and he is one of the finest human beings – I always wanted to work with him again. I was keen to cast him in the show and Lataa was the only choice for the Rajshri character. It feels good that something good has happened immediately after the launch of the show. It is a divine thing for them and there are a lot of positive vibes surrounding them.”
