The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, by asking Bigg Boss to shift to a slot after 11 pm, has for the first time in the recent past attempted to shift the timings of a show, reports the Times of India. This despite having the authority to serve notices and issue advisories on program content.
The government has issued approximately 275 show-cause notices and warnings to TV channels for breaching the television program code over the last four years. Some of these channels are Discovery, National Geographic, MTV, Sony Entertainment, Star Plus, Imagine, Colors and Bindaas.
Sach Ka Samna got its channel a notice for airing obscene content. The channel decided to change the show timings to 11 pm when the ministry took action, which happened post the Rajya Sabha raising the issue.
Bigg Boss was also served a similar notice last year and the channel had five days to justify the show being allowed to stay on air.
Dadagiri, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka, Sarkar Ki Duniya, Naa Aana Iss Desh Laado and Emotional Atyachar are other shows that failed to dodge government notices.
