What part of attending the Oscars are you most excited about?
DOMINIC LAU: To be on the coveted red carpet mingling with Hollywood’s elite is a great experience. I’m looking forward to shaking hands with Sean Penn, as he’s one of the best talents in the world. Also, to meet and chat with Angelina Jolie will give me bragging rights with my mates for life!
This isn’t your first trip to the Oscars. How would you describe the red-carpet scene?
It’s crazy! The wo
rlds’ finest actors and filmmakers are gathered in one place, fans are screaming, camera flashes are consistently going off, and from a personal viewpoint, the press are literally battling for interviews with the stars. I used my height and strength at the 79th Awards, and I’ll do the same this year! The journalist war is on!
What is your most memorable Oscar Red Carpet moment?
Every single moment! But I have to admit, getting a chance to speak to the legendary Clint Eastwood was something special.
Who are you most looking forward to talking to?
It has to be Mickey Rourke! I like him because I feel like I can relate to him – he is a bad boy. And I admire him for the comeback that he’s made.
What are you going to wear?
Why fix it when it ain’t broke? I’m going to sport the same Giorgio Armani tux I did last time!
What’s your position on the carpet?
I’m in and amongst the army of international press.
What’s your technique to at
tract the attention of the stars?
My charm and long arms.
How do you keep your cool in front of all these A-listers?
Well, at the end of the day, all of these A-Listers are just regular people.
What are your favorite types of questions?
I like to be as off-the-cuff as possible, so I’m just going to be myself and keep it conversational.
If you could ask any celebrity a personal question, who would it be and what would you ask?
I’ve thought of this many times before and I would have to say I would love to be able to sit down and have a deep and meaningful conversation with Steven Seagal. I would want to know who his acting coach was and who would win in a fight between him and Jean Claude Van Damme.
What is your favorite Oscar-nominated film this year?
Though I’d like to see Slumdog Millionaire win since it is such a fan favorite, I’m going to be a bit different and go with Frost/Nixon because I’m a fan of films based on true stories.
